Gotta add commentary about this part:
HoG!LWJ, after almost losing the man he loves the most, told himself he would never make Wei Ying feel hated, unwanted or rejected by him again.
He will try to be as clear as possible with his feelings and thoughts, and try to communicate.
What he says here wasn’t even in the intention to be romantic. He simply acknowledges the dire situation Wei Ying is in and he shares his thoughts and intentions with him, to let him know he’s not alone and this, that he’ll try to make things better.
He wants to make sure wwx realizes that he never intended for the house he gave him to be a cage, since, like he said to the people, wwx is not a prisoner. He is there so that lwj can shelter him. But if wwx feels otherwise, he’ll do anything he can to fix it.
In LWJ’s mind, it was just stating his real thoughts and intentions.
BUT MUST YOU BE SO STRAIGHTFORWARD AND SAY SUCH ROMANTIC THINGS WITH SUCH A FACE? 😩 LWJ, TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY!!
What does Lan Wangji mean by “change the world for you”? In a nutshell:
LWJ when he says it: I will tell him that the way the cultivation world treats him can be based on a lot of misunderstandings and set ups and I will try to find out the truth.
WWX when he hears it: you can’t >phrase< it like that! Really, Lan Zhan, didn’t you read any romance books?? 😩😩😩
Why does LWJ believe the cultivation world could’ve wronged WWX?
What LWJ meant by “changing the world for him” is to clear WWX’s bad reputation and condemnation by their society.
LWJ began suspecting things due to several reasons.
First, in the canon sect conferences he saw how many sect leaders manipulate and lie about things WWX said or done (especially to tear him and JC apart). He noticed that it was intentional.
Second, I think what WWX said in canon when he blamed the Jins of becoming the next Wens made an impact, maybe lwj pondered about that.
Third, canon!LWJ visited YLLZ in Yiling and in the mounds, he talked to him, saw his real intentions. He knew what others didn’t.
And finally, in HoG-verse, lwj and lxc saw wwx’s scar and suspect that maybe he gave up on his core, which changes a lot of things. 🥺🥺
This is what drives him to believe WWX was wronged and he is not ready to judge and condemn him like the others. He must know the full story.

I adore MDZS, because it doesn’t fall into the “Toxic, rough dom/top bullies the smaller, weaker sub/bottom who eventually begins to enjoy it” thing that a lot of BL’s do, but instead, the dom/top is excruciatingly gentle and the sub/bottom wants to be thrown around like a ragdoll, so they communicate about that 🤯 A mind-blowing concept, I know.
The fact that people miss that Wei Wuxian is the one egging Lan Wangji on and has just as much say in their bedroom antics… well maybe it’s worth it if the fandom actually reads the extras instead of dismissing them out of hand because there’s so much good stuff and yummy healthy communication in there.
Right, like when Lan Wangji spanks him and he tells him later, “Not a fan, 0/10 please avoid in the future” and Lan Wangji, obviously, agrees
